Unraveling the Yarn

I recently told my Mom about the fact that I would tell my patients, I’m a Nurse (RN) by trade, the story of us three kids having to unwind her yarn that was all knotted and then wrap it around our hands and the other person would roll it up into a neat ball for her so she could use it to knit. We hated doing it at the time, but now it has become one of my fondest memories. It comes to mind when I go into a patient’s room and they have their IV line, tube feeding, suction tubing, foley catheter, and any other tubing all wrapped up together to the point of potentially causing something to be pulled out if I don’t take the time to straighten the tubes out. So get your kids to help you or their grandmothers out this summer unraveling some yarn and making it into a ball that can be used for a knitting project. Make memories with your kids. They may make a fuss about it know, but something they may do later in life may jog their memory about the time they helped you with the yarn and provide them with a good memory during what may be an enduring time in their life, like it did for me. Good Luck and above all else Have Fun.
