If your kids are anything like ours who were too skinny to get clothes at the regular store you may have to make them yourself. We had two boys and a grandmother that didn’t sew boys clothes so we resorted to buying their skinny jeans online. We also had a daughter that was a size 7 in height and a size 4 around. Her grandmother could make her dresses, but we had to buy her boys jeans once to get them to fit. If we had only known that Mervyn’s carried skinny and super skinny clothes we would have been there all the time. We just complained at Kohl’s that they didn’t carry any of the skinny clothes for the slender kids. Now they have all of Mervyn’s old stock, when they closed their stores, our kids have outgrown their skinny faze and wear regular off the rack sizes. But for those of you who still have children who have sprouted two sizes during the summer and they don’t have older siblings that they can get hand-me-downs from, you may have to sew them. Let’s face it, there aren’t many of us in this day and age who can afford to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on back to school clothes that they will only outgrow by the end of the year. If you have the talent and time you can make several outfits that no one will know are homemade unless you tell them. So dust off your sewing machine, buy some material, sewing patterns and thread and start creating a beautiful wardrobe for your kids, who are going back to school soon.
